Desalination of Glycerin

Desalination of Glycerin.

As a byproduct of biodiesel industry, crude glycerin is produced in a large scale and there is a high demand for treating methods of this product and converting it into the pure glycerin. In our country, crude glycerin purification is performing using a distillation tower that is very energy consuming method. Using electrodialysis technology, PNF co. has been succeeded to purify glycerin. The most important advantages of electrodialysis are as following: being very low energy consumption method in comparison to using distillation tower and not affecting on the physical properties of glycerin molecule. Besides, the color has been significantly lighter after the process while in the traditional methods crude lightening process is time and material consuming. Since the chemical and physical properties of the produced pure glycerin are not changed, this product is an ideal material for pharmaceutical and health industries.
