Advanced Electro Dialysis Water Desalination: EDR
Electro dialysis is a membrane separation process used in order to desalinate and eliminate ions from water. In this method, ions are transported through semi-permeable membranes under the impact of electric current. Membranes are cationic or anionic, carrying positive or negative ions, depending on the type. By placing membranes one between each other, positive and negative ions are allowed to pass sporadically, eradicated from the mainstream, and enter the condensed stream.
In reverse electro dialysis (EDR), altering the electrical charge of the "cathode" and "anode" electrodes prevents fouling and increases the longevity of the system. In reverse electro dialysis (EDR), unlike traditional methods which eliminate contaminations by tiny channels in the membrane structure, the ion induction mechanism triggers the contamination to transfer from one stream to another.
Company of Payamavaran Nanotechnology Fardanegar by the development of electro dialyses, for the first time in the country proposes this method as a new method in separating salts, annoying ions such as nitrate and heavy metals from water and wastewater.
In addition to its special advantage of recovery up to 95%, very low operating costs in comparison with other methods, is one of the unique advantages of this method. Notably, in the electro dialysis method, the operating costs will mainly include electricity consumption.
Advantages of reverse electro dialysis (EDR) method:
⦁ High current recovery efficiency up to approximately 95% high longevity of used membranes up to 10 years.
⦁ Not using supplementary chemicals during the process
⦁ Very low maintenance costs compared to traditional methods such as reverse osmosis
⦁ No need for pre-purification.
